Below is a copy of the recent letter/email sent to members from Peter Gordon our Honorary President
When I last wrote to you in August, we were all looking forward to the resumption of bowling on the 14th September. The Club did open as scheduled with a programme of nine roll-up sessions and I’m pleased to report this was well supported, with the number of participating members increasing on a week-by-week basis. One important change we made from the original plan was to move from four rinks to three rinks for all sessions i.e. both end rinks and a specially adapted middle rink. This enabled us to include the ever-popular triples format of the game in roll-up sessions without compromising on social distancing. So far so good, or so we thought, until we received the news that we would have to close from November 5th until December 2nd to comply with the second national lockdown.
With regard to the resumption of bowling after the end of the lockdown, the main considerations have been firstly, the general uncertainty about any national or regional restrictions that might apply after the 2nd, and secondly, the close proximity of any resumption to the Christmas period. We have, therefore, decided that the sensible plan is for the Club to remain closed until after the festive season. We are now planning to re-open on Monday 11th January. One change to the bowling programme from the 11th is that, following requests from members, we are adding two social booking sessions; Mondays and Wednesdays, 2.30 – 4.30pm. A copy of the programme can be found here on the 'Opening' page.
Sessions can be booked up to a week in advance. From Monday 4th January please ring Jeff Bastow between 9.30 -10.00am Monday to Friday. From Monday 11th January onwards please ring the Club between 9.30 -10.00am Monday to Friday.
The revised ‘Members’ Guide’ which incorporates some changes from the earlier version sent out in August can be found here on the 'Returning to Play' page.
I think that brings you up-to-date with all that’s happening but we will, of course, be back in touch if circumstances change.
In the meantime, on behalf of the Executive Committee, may I wish you and yours a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.
